Just durian my thang...

ah, the queen of all fruits in asia
she beguilles but then will amaze ya
her odour is strong
it's got quite a pong
but you'll trip like you've gone to fantasia!

WELLLLLLLLL ok, maybe not, and I was never one for the lymerick - but this little puppy tastes SWEEEEEEEEEET. Sure, when you first break it out it smells like someone just had a class 7 typhoon in their pants, or perhaps you'll suspect the neighbour finally died.. but in the end, you'll be glad you gave it a whirl!

now that last photo is just PURE CLASS!

Suck out that marrow, baby!

Yes indeed, not only do they give you a proctology glove to handle your meat with, then then insist you grab a straw and just suck out that marrow like you're a whore on $2 Tuesday!

All kidding aside (after all, it's Sunday not Tuesday) the pork was OUTSTANDING!!

OK now THIS MURAL is just far-king-cool!! It's that whole 3d thang that gets me.. it was quite lengthy, and told the story of the 3 Kingdoms - I've just gotten the books and as soon as I'm done with Journey To The West I'll be getting into it...

But damn, the work is pretty sweet - I dig how moving around the mural gives you perspective on the story and a range of emotions you'd not get from a painting.

Yeah, it's a lamp.. but the guy underneath was a big judge back from some dynasty (sheesh, when you can't read mandarin and your girlfriend just can't be bothered reading it either, the descriptions just somewhat suffer in the end... bah, ah well, you'll have to come & see it for yourself to find out :P)

ANYWAYS.. so the thing about this judge is that he didn't take any bribes or wouldn't be beholden to threats - he just upheld the law and did his damn job.. and look what that gets you in china, a bloody place in history! There's another guy in Guangzhou that was the same, i'll be visiting his statue soon enough and will try to pry more details out of these buggers...

Notice the buddha has cash in hand!
another example of fake 2000-year old minature garden mastery!

Bao Mo Park Pt1

Ah, i'm using Picasa to blog this, so i guess i'll work within this 4-photo constraint until i work out how better to multipic...

ANYWAYS, this is a cute little tourist trap just outside of PanYu (again, hit me up for Google Earth Coordinates if you're keen to see the area from above) and aside from the gardens and outdoor installations the place is home to some of china's history dating back through the dynasties. The UBER PAINTINGS AND SCULPTURES weren't able to be photographed :( But the works were nothing short of fantastic, and some of the pieces that had been excavated included huge vases & plates, jade jewellery (they weren't too impressed about my jade cock-ring references about those bracelets), a couple of gold-and-jade-filled human effegies (sp?) that were buried with the emporer...

here's a little tidbit - talk about suckin' to be the emporer's wife! not only do you have to sit there while he screws 1000 other women, when he dies they bury you alive with him to keep him company on the journey!

anyways, due to a lack of blog-mastery this will all come out in reverse order :P
